FILM CRITICS
These days whenever I ask someone how a movie was they usually reply with
"It was alright but it was like 3 hours".
This grinds my gears. Firstly, these days we are paying near to $15 to see a movie.. closer to $20 when its in 3d or imax (which is like 1/3 movies nowadays). If I am paying this much, and the movie is good... 3 hours is A-OK with me. Commenting on the films time isn't a real criticism.
wolf of wallstreet was a fantastic film, however I heard countless people complain about how long it was. Personally, if the movie does its job, the last thing youll be looking at is a clock. Yes its true, some films would be better if they were shorter... but that's based on a number of factors.
Also, do some research if you have problems sitting in one spot for 3 hours (maybe seek some professional help as well?). Most movie theatres give you the exact run time before you purchase your ticket.. or simply ask if its going to be an issue.
Maybe im just becoming more frugal, but I would sit through a movie like Avatar if it was 12 hours!
While we are on the topic of cinema, Ive got one more complaint. And its about everyone who was so sure that Leonardo DiCaprio was going to win an Oscar for his role in The wolf of Wallstreet.
A) that movie appealed most to people between the ages of 18-28
(My mother would probably turn it off at the first scene simply due to its crude nature
B) the people who believed this had not even seen nor heard of the other movies or actors that at were nominated. In my eyes, when it comes down to it AIDS or Slavery will always trump a movie about that perks (and vices) of being a rich
maybe next time Leo.

PROCRASTINATION
As I am doing this now.. thinking of things that rattle me... none may do so more than doing something last minute. Procrastination is a self-inflicted wound that has the ability to crush one's spirits. Dreading that final essay/paper/project and leaving it to the last minute causes stress levels that will mess with every facet of your life! no one will want to talk to you because you'll be losing it on anyone who takes from your focus. Coffee cup after coffee cup.
HOWEVER... I don't think there is a better feeling than finally finishing whatever it is you had to do. It could be done with poor quality.. it could have been a hundred times better... but its DONE.
Over the course of my 6 years of post -secondary school you would think I have learned.
Unfortunately... I have not. Procrastination is indeed a pet peeve but like I said... is no ones fault but my own... ...in fact I don't even think I can complain about it... anyways I've gotta get going. I've got things to do!... but first.... video games.

Online Dating
Something like 1 in every 3 relationships begun through online dating.
I get it.. its fast.. its easy.. and it spares you actually having to approach another human and engage in conversation (HEAVEN FORBID)... but come on. Soon enough people will be getting married without even having met their spouse face to face (probably already happened!)
Technology is a link to one another yes, but this world was built upon face to face interaction! hell, when I was in grade 9 cell phones were few and far between... and that wasn't even that long ago. I get that some people get off on that quick / convenient hook-up *tinder* but it terms of a relationship that lasts... I am a firm believer that 'the one' isn't to be found via some internet website data base. People looking for 'true love' online are somewhat driven by desperation to do so.
Call me old fashion... but I prefer catching eyes on a casually walk by then direct messaging someone who likes the same music as I do. :S.
Anyhow, here is some online dating tips for you little lovebirds !

I not just a skater boy!
Skateboarding, I am not ashamed to admit, as got me to where I am today.
My best of friends, the places ive travelled, and the things ive seen all stem from my love of skateboarding. As I get older, I am becoming less and less committed to jumping down big flights of stairs but I will ALWAYS ride my skateboard. There is nothing like it.. whether im just blowing off steam... hanging with friends.. or just commuting somewhere.. its always there for me.
Skateboarding has become VERY mainstream since I first took it up. However I am still going to always be pinned as a 'skater-boy' thanks to a very catchy song written in the late 90's.
A at tilted hooligan defacing public property and running from security guards!

Selfies
The selfie..
I am not about to hate on it as much as you may think.
In fact... some selfies are great... and make me wish I was more photogenic.
I find that the self is indeed an art form. The right angle. The right light... Some people have this down to an exact science. What I don't like is when someone takes a selfie that attempts to display their sadness or includes some stupid caption. like "life laugh love". or "you want what you cant have". Like I said.. maybe my hatred stems from my jealous.... any I don't really know what else to say.... so I am done.
BUT FIRST!
LET ME TAKE A SELFIE!

Facebook love.
"I'm so happy I am with you babe"
This was the status of one of my facebook acquaintances. Not a message to her... a status... for all to read and in my case JUDGE!
This makes me sick.... why do this? why not just call her.... or text her. Sheesh, he was probably even sitting beside her when he posted this!
The most common answer would probably be "well he wants everyone to know and that's cute"
NO ITS NOT.
If people are positing things/advertising their relationship because they feel that they gain something, they are dead wrong. If you're doing something because you care about what others think of your relationship... I think ya got it all wrong. I am no cupid... certainly no romeo.... but I think that all that matter is how she feels and that they status would best be kept as a PERSONAL and PRIVATE message to her. This is happening way too much these days...
but hey... 55%+ divorce rate right?
am I bitter .... yes. Im going to go look for love now.
Facebook has completely changed and created new 'relationship' protocol ... and if this is an issue in your relationship.... seek help.

GO LEAFS GO!
The Toronto maple leafs have sold out every game since October 2001.
They have made the playoffs 3 times since (13 years).
They are a horrible team on the ice...
and as a fan of their opposition... I LOATHE leafs fans.
They are ignorant... they are mindless (paying $300+ for average seats to a less than average team)
and worst of all... they will continue to do so.
Yes my bias is driven by the fact that my choice team is the montreal canadiens (Toronto rival) but that does not mean I would not like to see Toronto succeed!
Ticket prices are said to increase by nearly 5 % next season.... subsequent to one of the biggest collapses in TEAM HISTORY. They will continue to sell out... and yes I suppose this demonstrates the commitment of the leafs faithful fans, but come on.... show some spine and try a little boycotting now and then to show your team they need some changing.
Like I said.... I'm bias. and with playoff time around the corner... Ive got my own things to world about . ...

Hello there again.
I am ready to complain again!
So I am awfully tired of something...
and that something is when people on facebook send out an invite to literally hundreds of their facebook 'friends' announcing that they are leaving on some adventure and that they are having a going away party that they 'hope you all can come and party and say bye and send me off in style".
This 'party' usually takes places at the busiest, most popular bar in town... on a Friday or Saturday night. Why does this rattle my cage so much?
A) guaranteed 90% of the friends they've invited... don't really care/ won't bat an eye when that person 'leaves'
B) If people are there, its usually because the are already planning on being at that bar !
C) If they are really your friends.... and the people who truly value your friendship, THEY'LL BE THERE
...... It also leaves me feeling like people think that when they 'leave' (which usually involves coming back 8-10 months later).. that the rest of the world goes on hold. In my experience whenever anyone has announced their planned absence for that long.... and they do indeed go, and come back. IT FEELS LIKE 2 WEEKS IN MY LIFE! Perhaps people are just as busy as you? or perhaps even busier!? Unfortunately adventurers... the world keeps spinning... even when your on your "AMAZING JOURNEY THROUGH EASTERN ASIA!"
Am I bitter ...yes.... I need a vacation....
in fact im going away in 2 weeks to B.C!!!
AND I WANT YOU ALL TO COME SEND ME OFF I STYLE!!

Everyone is a professional nutritionist !
Sharing one's thought or opinions is nothing new to the internet, however, social media has shifted power from the hands of professionals to amateurs. In almost any category... sports... history... politics... or 'health and wellness'.... everyone as seemed to deem themselves a professional.
The following video displays professor Colin Shirky providing insight into how social media is changing history through this so called 'power shift'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=769txj9gfxM
That being said, my biggest pet peeve is when someone posts a picture via facebook or instagram... of some healthy smoothie they have made... that costs of nothing put fruit and yogurt... suggesting others "Try this Great alternative!".
They post these things as is if
a) The invented the smoothie
b) There are a credited nutrition specialist
I get the concept of sharing your idea with the world... but -posting smoothie picture after smoothie picture.. including a picture of all the fruits cut up in some fancy display (which clearly took them more than a reasonable time to set up ) is LAME. Hit blend and drink it already.

I rarely complain about things to others. I'm lying. In fact, now that I am thinking about it, most of my social interactions involve complaining in one way or another. A job, a class, an opinion, the weather, fatigue.... I am never really out of things to complain about. I could complain about how I am being forced to share my thoughts with you (whoever you may be - aside from my lovely, awesome teacher) , however, I will not. Rather, I will take this opportunity presented to me, and over the course of the next three months, methodically ridicule and give my two cents (worth far less to most) on a wide range of issues and topics that grind the absolute hell out of my gears. Essentially it will go like this; I will complain about something and in turn you will read it (or you wont), you will agree (or you won't) and that will be all. I will by no means intend to come across as pompous, ignorant or condescending, but I without a doubt will. I actually hope to bring a sense of validity to my arguments and perhaps enlighten and open your eyes to a new way (my way) of looking at things. Anyhow, I'm pretty tired and feeling awfully lazy today so I am not really up for getting into any sort of rant just yet. I'll simply tell you the same thing that I often tell others that I have no intention of speaking with later. TTYL!
