Sharing one's thought or opinions is nothing new to the internet, however, social media has shifted power from the hands of professionals to amateurs. In almost any category... sports... history... politics... or 'health and wellness'.... everyone as seemed to deem themselves a professional.
The following video displays professor Colin Shirky providing insight into how social media is changing history through this so called 'power shift'

That being said, my biggest pet peeve is when someone posts a picture via facebook or instagram... of some healthy smoothie they have made... that costs of nothing put fruit and yogurt... suggesting others "Try this Great alternative!".
They post these things as is if
a) The invented the smoothie
b) There are a credited nutrition specialist
I get the concept of sharing your idea with the world... but -posting smoothie picture after smoothie picture.. including a picture of all the fruits cut up in some fancy display (which clearly took them more than a reasonable time to set up ) is LAME. Hit blend and drink it already.
